ROUGOL is a not-for-profit organisation consisting of RISC OS users in London and the south-east. After its formation in September 1999, the group grew rapidly with membership exceeding 100 by early 2000.

The aims of the group are:
To give those in London and the surrounding areas the chance to see and hear about the latest developments in the RISC OS world, with visits from prominent developers and other companies
To provide an opportunity to discuss RISC OS developments, to exchange technical knowledge, and solve other users' problems
To assist other RISC OS groups in running major RISC OS events such as the South East RISC OS show
To keep members informed by e-mail of important RISC OS developments (both in the south-east and elsewhere)
To provide user feedback and other information to RISCOS Ltd, RISC OS Open Ltd, and other developers
To maintain an "open membership" policy whereby visitors can drop in to events that they find of interest, without needing to pay to attend. Costs are kept low by using e-mail as the main method of communication; speakers and committee members do not have travel or telephone expenses reimbursed.
ROUGOL has links with the Association of Acorn User Groups,
other RISC OS user groups in south-east England, and a number of Acorn and ex-Acorn developers in the area.
