Since Mark Moxon's previous visit he has continued his deep dive into the innards of the original BBC Micro version of Elite. His most recent addition is something we could only dream about back in the 80s, a split screen two player mode!

Mark will be joining us in the pub to talk about how he achieved this amazing feat. The game features a one-on-one battle between the two players, each getting to choose the type of ship they fly and what equipment it has. You can even play as the alien Thargoids.

For those in the pub we will have a Beeb setup with dual joysticks for some live dogfights! Who will be champion on the night?

Mark has also co-authored two academic papers along with Michael Fairbank from the University of Essex, all about Elite, that were recently presented at the IEEE Conference on Games in Madrid.
