Archimedes Live
Paul Stone
Monday 15th May 2023, 7:45pm

Many people will be familiar with Arculator, the Archimedes emulator for Windows and Linux written by Sarah Walker. Version 2.1 was released near the end of 2021.

Early last year Paul Stone set himself the challenge to see if he could compile Arculator to WebAssembly (WASM), allowing it to run in a web browser. The goal would be to allow anyone to try Archimedes games and apps just by following a link. He was successful, and Archimedes Live was born!

Paul will be joining us in the pub to tell us about how he did it, what problems he had along the way, and give some idea of what his plans are for further enhancements. There should be plenty of time before and after the meeting to try playing some games and demos.

There is thread on StarDot about the development and the source code is on GitHub.

You can read a meeting report on The Icon Bar and the slides from the presentation can be downloaded here.
