The Omega and Alpha in action
Paddy Reid, PHR Computers
Monday 21st July 2003, 19:45

Some of you will know Paddy Reid as the inspiration behind MicroDigital's impressive Wakefield and Utrecht stands featuring racing motorbikes. He has also been involved in various ways in the Omega project, as well as authoring responses to some of the articles about it in the RISC OS press. His company, PHR Computers, are the leading Omega dealer for East Anglia, and are based in Peterborough.

We're hoping that Paddy will be able to bring along an Omega of the very latest flavour, to show us all what has been achieved. It's also possible that he may be able to bring along Omega systems to sell on the night. However, he has made clear that available systems must go to existing deposit holders first, so nothing is guaranteed. If you've ordered an Omega from PHR, it's possible that you'll be able to collect it on the night if you wish - please contact Paddy directly.

It's also likely that Paddy will be able to bring along an Alpha or Alpha Professional laptop for you to try out (Windows laptops with ARM emulation software, supporting RISC OS 4 and RISC OS Select).

We have made sure to book a separate room upstairs for this meeting (rather than the downstairs annex), to avoid previous problems with noise from the bar area.

As always, there should also be plenty of opportunity to talk about more general RISC OS topics, including the exciting events seen by those of us who visited the Utrecht show.

Update
Just a brief note to say that unfortunately, Paddy Reid will probably not be able to bring an Omega to tomorrow evening's meeting. However, he will still be bringing one Alpha laptop and one Alpha Professional laptop for everyone to try out, as well as a StrongARM Risc PC for speed comparisons.
